so you act, so you feel, so you are ?

Anyone reading this, including myself has most likely wondered why in the world is the title of this blog #FLAWLESS? Upon seeing this you probably had one of two guesses about whom was behind this:
1) Some self righteous model chick who really is flawless and knows it but continues to insist on pushing her smashing good looks and wonderfully sexy boyfriend and their pretty people problems in our face in the form of a blog

or
2) Some completely flawed crazy woman about to either rampage about her love for Beyoncé or her love for herself, which may or may not be warranted.

Fortunately for you I am neither of the two; I am a completely flawed teenager however I do believe that everything and everyone has some beauty in them. Yet this blog is not to talk about how even the dead flower which Fernando gave me on valentines day has beauty in it. This blog is because of something I read today while perusing Elite Daily in Italian between thoughts about lunch and taking a nap after school I came across an article titled just that; #FLAWLESS. Now I will tell you the truth I was mostly drawn to this article because of 1)the hashtag and 2) the Beyoncé lyric; I had absolutely no idea what this article would be about. I scrolled to the bottom of the page to look for the author and came to find that the writer was my newly discovered right at that moment woman crush; Tara Bowlin. After reading her bio, seeing that she was a humorous feminist and has dabbled in other things such as modeling and reality television only to find that writing was her passion I dubbed Tara a top notch lady; so I continued on into the article.

With the premise being that we would stop shaming woman for believing in their beauty and not being afraid to show it, I could not help but agree. It seems that with social media becoming a more prevalent way for others to express their opinions about everything from your skin color in a certain picture, to your hair in that group shot that you thought was actually really freaking cute, people are becoming less and less hesitant to express their distain for you rather than egging you on backing you when you are unafraid to proclaim your beauty.

It seems strange to me because as Bowlin says "the world is already a tough place for us as women with absurd beauty standards and glass ceilings that seem unbreakable". One would think that rather than shaming each other for feeling, acting and believing that we are beautiful that we would be backing each other 100 percent. with so much emphasis being put on creating empowerment programs for younger generations it is just as important to support our fellow females in our generation. In some senses even more important because if we cannot come to achieve acceptance and happiness within ourselves how can we expect to teach it to others.

Maybe that is part of the problem which seems to be plaguing the minds of the female species, jealously and inferiority are destructive, putting each other down rather than lifting each other up creates the disparity in feelings of beauty and happiness. I think its time for every woman to #flawless on their photos and rather than put them down with catty chatter and nitpicking over comments on Instagram or behind their back us fellow females should, cover them with double taps and click here to likes, because after in the words of Troy Bolton and the gang, "We're all in this together" and the only way to survive is to support each other.

Here's the link to Tara's article on Elite Daily if you want to check it out. She has tons of other stuff written as well, a lot having to do with the importance of being a strong healthy woman in this cray cray world we live in. Check her out ! Don't be afraid to follow her on twitter : @tarabowlin and don't forget to follow me as well @ah_lexgetcrazy.
